ABOUT ME

Allow me to introduce myself! My name is Jessie Caffery, and I reside in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I live in a quiet area, and am so lucky to be surrounded by nature, and live in the woods. I have 4 children, and 2 grandchildren, who are the center of my world. My hobbies include gardening, hiking, herbalism, stargazing, and other nature inspired projects! I’m definitely a “nature junkie”. Halloween is my favorite holiday, fall is my favorite season, and yoga is absolutely my passion!

I've been practicing yoga for a little over 8 years and have been teaching for a little over 4 years. Yoga completely changed my life by helping me get more "into my body", while getting me more "out of my head". That has been the very inspiration for creating Moon Child Yoga! Anyone who joins will leave classes feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. I offer beginner focused classes, in the Shenandoah Valley area and beyond. The sky is the limit! I look forward to practicing with you! Namaste!

“Even though she leans towards beginner levels, All levels are welcomed, and her focus is bringing longevity and wellness in her sessions“ -Greg M.

ABOUT MY CLASSES

When I first began my own personal practice, I thought that I could do much more physically in the postures than what I was actually capable of. This led to frustration, burnout, and even physical injury. A good analogy would be my "eyes were bigger than my stomach". I was quickly humbled and realized not only that I needed to step back a bit, but that Yoga is so much more than just a physical practice.

As a result of this realization, when I decided to teach after completing my initial 200-hour teacher training, I chose to always lean towards offering beginner type classes. This means that all levels of practitioners can join, from the most novice, to the most experienced! That said you will still experience some level of challenge in my classes, and if it seems a bit too much for you, I always strive to offer modifications to help you get the most out of each posture, and the entire class. I offer props such as blocks, blankets, and bolsters to name a few, that can aid in helping each student broaden their horizons in each posture. Most of my classes start with short meditations that focus on the theme of the class, a short warm up, the most movement portion, then the cool down. Breathwork may or may not be included, depending on what we're working on as a theme. The main style I offer is a mixture of Hatha/Vinyasa, but I'm also well-versed in Yin Yoga, Chair Yoga, and Yoga for special needs. If you are able to join me at Sunrise Yoga at A New You Salon On Thursdays at 615 am, you'll get a mini sound bath via my lovely singing bowls!

Wherever you are in your Yoga journey, I do hope you are getting the most of it, or if you haven't started yet, but are considering doing so soon, I hope it does as much for you as it has me. Namaste!

Upcoming offerings for 2026

Upcoming offerings for 2026!

Our very first theme for our yoga practice in 2026 will be “Out with the Old, in with the New”, inspired by the beginning of a brand new year! Are you ready to release some old habits and patterns that are not serving you? The beginning of a brand new year is a great time to focus on this! This idea can also help to make room for the “new“. We will get into postures that will help release stuck energy, as in out with the old, and those movements will be followed by some more opening postures to help us energetically and physically allow in the new.

In the following weeks, we will explore themes that are related to specific body parts. We will begin with full focus on the feet, and the end of those themes will be the head and upper body, And touching on all of the specific areas in between, such as the legs, the hips, the core, and the chest. These themes will help you to get more in touch with these specific areas of your body, to help strengthen, tone and increase flexibility.

Beginning in January, each week for 10 weeks, I will record a short video, titled “Posture of the week“. These informational videos will Focus on specific beginner/basic postures that I will break down as a short tutorial on how to get into the posture on your own and/or with props. You will be able to find these videos on my YouTube channel at https://youtube.com/@jessiecafferyyogamoonchild?si=jjTo76HvslSiu_Y2

Grounded and centered

Upcoming offerings in 2026, continued…

Also in 2026, I will be adding in some hot yoga sessions at the Shenandoah County Community Center, located in Mount Jackson, Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley. Not familiar, with what hot yoga is? My adaptation of this style of yoga is choosing a gentle movement sequence that doesn’t build as much heat as we practice, and heating the room up to about 90 to 95°. Wearing less clothing is definitely more comfortable, because while the sequence will be gentle, we will definitely warm up! Also bringing an extra towel and a bottle of water is highly recommended. When this style of yoga is practiced properly, your body will be able to more easily adapt to the postures! You will feel extra relaxed and rejuvenated once completing a hot yoga class! These classes will only be offered during the colder months, and will not be offered weekly, so they will be on a limited time basis. Check the class schedule for further details!

Also, in February and March 2026, I will be offering an Introduction to Yin Yoga Workshop. In February we will meet for this workshop at the Shenandoah County Community Center in Mount Jackson, Virginia, and in March we will meet for this workshop at the Wellness and Activity Center, located in Woodstock, Virginia, and run by the Shenandoah County Parks and Recreation Program. Yin Yoga is a slower, floor-based, more meditative practice, where the postures are held for longer periods of time. This style helps you get more deeply into your ligaments, joints, and myofascial tissue. Each workshop has a 90 minute time slot, with about 45 minutes being information and discussion, and the other 45 minutes will be an actual physical practice. Want to learn more about this wonderful style of yoga? Join us at one of these wonderful workshops! See the class schedule for further details!

And lastly, I am bringing back private yoga sessions. Timeslots for these are included in the class schedule section, and they are random days and dates, in lieu of accepting new students. Once I have established a firm set schedule with Students, we can establish a regular meeting time from there. The location will be determined by myself and the student. I have a space, and I am more than happy to come to your home! Each timeslot is an hour long, where the student will have one on one time to work with me on specific yoga related practice material. Our first session will be a consultation, to go over your individual needs, and then I will “do my homework“ in coming up with sequences that are tailored to those exact needs. Check the class schedule for more details!

I am so excited to share these new offerings in 2026 with you! See you on your mat!
